Frequently Asked Questions:
Using your health insurance for telehealth services:
1. Is this availabe at Pathways?
Answer: Yes. Telehealth is available for those receiving mental health and co-occurring disorders services at one of our clinics. We accept plans that cover telehealth (also knows as telemedicine or telemental health). Please check with your insurance company to find out whether your plan covers telehealth.
2. Does this mean that I do not have to come to Pathways MHS Clinic?
Answer: At the current implementation stage of the state law, most insurances require you to be at the "originating site" which is one of the Pathways clinics. You may also be able to participate from another healthcare site that we have an agreement with, such as your primary care clinic, other health professional's office or local general hospital. Your counselor will be at a "distant site." However, some insurance companies now allow patients to participate in therapy from home or any location determined appropriate by the individual receiving services.
3. Is this secure and HIPAA compliant?
Answer: Yes. Pathways is using a HIPAA compliant platform in the delivery of telehealth to protect your privacy and confidentiality. The technology we use is free to you and to our originating site partners.
4. How do I sign up for this?
Answer: If you are a new patient, please discuss your interest in telehealth during the intake process. Please complete our forms (all mental health forms and the Telemedicine Informed Consent) to become a new patient of Pathways.
