Effective 1 January 2014, Washington Department of Health mandates that certain professionals have to complete training in suicide assessment, intervention, treatment and management as part of the licensure renewal requirements. Is this workshop accepted by WA DOH as meeting the new law? Answer 1: ASIST was included in the Washington Department of Health - "Matt Adler suicide assessment, treatment, and management training act of 2012 - ESHB 2366" recommended model list. Question 2: The ESHB 2366 requires that mental health professionals in the State of Washington complete six hours of training in suicide assessment, treatment, and management. Does ASIST meet those requirements? Answer 2: This workshop is designed to meet the said requirement. Question 3: Will I be receiving CEUs for this workshop? Who is the coordinating contact/organization? Answer 3: This workshop has been approved for 15 CEU hours by the Washington Marriage & Family Therapy Association to Pathways MHS & Baxter Consultants as the coordinating contact/organization. Question 4: Will I be receiving a certificate after completing the ASIST workshop? Answer 4: Yes, You will be receiving a LivingWorks certificate after you completed the 2 day ASIST workshop in suicide first aid. Question 5: I read from the DOH website that the training/workshop should be listed in the Suicide Prevention Resource Center. I wonder if ASIST is in that registry? Answer 5: Yes, the Suicide Prevention Resource Center - Best Practices Registry lists ASIST as meeting their standards of accuracy, safety and programmatic guidelines. Question 6: Can other professions, such as LICSWs, LASWs, LMHCs, Certified Counselors, and Licensed Associates get CEUs by attending this workshop? Answer 6: Yes, this Continuing Education activity has been approved by the Washington Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, which qualifies as a provider of mental health counseling Continuing Education Units through Washington State WAC 246-810-620 for LMFTs, LMHCs, LASWs, LICSWs, Certified Counselors, and Associates. |
